Buyer protection
When you pay through CardTrading, your order is covered by the dispute process described in our Terms of Service. This page summarises it in plain words; if anything here differs from the Terms, the Terms apply.
Pay through the platform
Buyer protection applies to orders paid through CardTrading. Payments are processed by Stripe; the seller is paid through Stripe Connect. Sales completed outside the platform are not covered.
The seller has 7 days to ship
After you pay, the seller must ship the item within 7 calendar days, adequately protected, with tracking where offered, directly to you. If the order has not been shipped by then, you can open a dispute for non-shipment and request a refund.
When you can open a dispute
You can open a dispute from the order page if the item:
- has not been shipped within 7 calendar days of payment,
- does not arrive,
- arrives damaged, or
- is not as described.
Disputes can be opened from shipment until 30 days after the order is completed, or, for non-shipment, once 7 calendar days have passed since payment without the order being shipped. Inspect your cards when they arrive, then confirm delivery or report the problem without undue delay. If you do not confirm, the order is marked as completed automatically 14 days after shipment, unless a dispute is open.
How a dispute is resolved
While an order is disputed it cannot be completed. You and the seller can talk in the dispute thread, and CardTrading may mediate and issue a resolution, which may include a refund processed through Stripe.
If your order is refunded in full, the €0.49 buyer protection fee is refunded with it; a partial refund returns it in proportion to the amount refunded.
What it does not cover
- Purchases paid outside CardTrading, or sales completed off the platform.
- Disputes opened after the time limits above: more than 30 days after the order was completed.
- Market value. Reference prices shown on CardTrading are informational estimates, not a guarantee of what a card is worth.
- CardTrading is an intermediary: we never own, hold or ship the items, and we do not guarantee their condition, authenticity or grading beyond the tools we provide.
Your statutory rights
Our resolution of a dispute is limited to the platform transaction. It does not limit your statutory rights or the seller’s. Most sellers on CardTrading are private individuals. When you buy from a private individual, EU consumer protection rules that apply to purchases from traders, such as the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases, do not apply to that sale.
